Saratoga win
dec 10 - Guilderland improved to 2 - 0 on the season as they defeated the Saratoga Blue Streaks 44 - 30. Senior Captain Matt Cubillos called it "much needed revenge" over a team that had defeated the Dutchmen last season. Following a forfeit at 96 lbs and a narrow loss at 103 , Kevin Bates got the team on the board with a 2nd period fall at 112. Travis Wolanski followed with a pin of his own at 119, but the Streaks regained the lead after picking up 2, 6-point falls at 125 and 130. Cubillos brought the team back into contention with a 1st period pin, making the team score 18 - 21. Fellow senior Matt Hart earned a Dutchmen Award by scoring a 3rd period reversal to take a 2-1 win over an opponent who had beaten him the year prior. Greg Reinhart also won a narrow match, 3-2, scoring a 3rd period escape and takedown to give the Dutchmen a 24 -21 team lead. David Taylor padded the Guilderland lead with a pin at 152, followed by a Technical Fall for Eugene Sellie at 160 lbs. Junior Matt Miller scored a 10 - 5 win at 171, while Brendan Ruddy dropped a tough match at 189. The narrow loss, however, would clinch the match for the team. Devan Van Auken picked up bonus points at 215 lbs with a pinfall, for the final win of the night. Congratulations to the Dutchmen Award winner Matt Hart, and to the rest of the team on a solid victory.
